the big "3-0"

30th Birthday

Adam had awoke Wednesday to wish me Happy Birthday Eve and then I received a note on my car wishing me "happy birthday (one day early)". As Thursday rolled around and I had to go to work Adam wished me Happy Birthday and I went on my way. My mom called at 8:00 to sing me Happy Birthday, what a nice surprise and a such a thoughtful gesture. My eyes welled up with aligator tears. Shortly after that I received messages on my voicemail from Char and then my most beloved cousin Clay. He was also kind enough to send a text message saying "ha, you are 30". I kindly reminded him he would be 30 in just 27 days... As the day went on I had a great lunch with some friends. We went to a sushi bar and then to Eatzi's (a European style grocery) for dessert. I had an amazing chocolate covered strawberry. What a great way to start thirty. I am feeling energized and just starting to become the woman I want to be. Thirty is going to be a memorable age and a turning point in my life. I am so excited about what lies ahead for me, for Adam and for my family. I have a grande suspicion that things are going to be wonderful...

Surprise

This is the expression of a thirty year old woman who gets a huge surprise gift from her thoughtful boyfriend, adam johnson...

Apparently his female coworkers were fueling him with the idea that jewelry is what every girl wants. You absolutely can't go wrong with something REALLY expensive and sparkly for a thirtieth birthday present... They were REALLY wrong!

Adam not only took me to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for an amazing butter basted ribeye, but he bought me a kite (from REI) that I love and I've enjoyed taking out near the Potomac to fly on occassion, but that's not all. The super lightweight shiny silver digital Canon Rebel was my thirtieth birthday gift. I had no idea what was in the big square beautifully wrapped striped box and when I opened it I was overwhelmed and in shock. I didn't think what was on the box could really be IN the box AND for me. I was a bit ferklempt and I had elephant tears welling up in my lids. That Adam sure is a fine catch and he knows me much better than those girls at his office who were later overheard whispering in the bathroom they couldn't believe I would have been disappointed with jewelry.
